Understanding 4W–6W LED Power Consumption

LED lighting has made it possible to achieve good brightness while using very little power. When you see a rating such as 4W–6W, it refers to the amount of electricity the bulb consumes, not how bright it appears.

What does 4W–6W mean?

A 4W to 6W LED bulb uses between four and six watts of power. Compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, this is a very low level of energy consumption. Modern LED technology is efficient, allowing lower wattage to produce sufficient light for everyday use.

Brightness vs. power usage

Wattage measures energy use, while brightness is measured in lumens. A 4W LED bulb typically produces around 200–300 lumens, while a 6W LED bulb can reach approximately 350–450 lumens. This makes them suitable for softer, ambient lighting rather than full room illumination.

Common use cases

LED bulbs in the 4W–6W range are commonly used in bedside lamps, nightstands, decorative fixtures, and other situations where gentle lighting is preferred. They provide enough visibility without being overly bright.

Energy efficiency

One of the main advantages of LED bulbs is their efficiency. A 6W LED can provide a similar level of brightness to a much higher wattage incandescent bulb, while using significantly less electricity. This results in lower energy costs and longer bulb lifespan.
